OFFICIAL MATCHUP CHALLENGES RULES

Have questions about Matchup Challenges? Get the answers by reviewing our Official Matchup Challenges Rules below.

Contest Creation and Acceptance

A Matchup Challenge contest is created when one manager in a season-long, head-to-head league selects an entry fee amount and proposes a Matchup Challenge against his or her weekly opponent. Once the team manager pays the entry fee, the opposing team manager is notified of the proposed Matchup Challenge. The opposing team manager can accept the proposal and pay the entry fee, reject the proposal, or reject and propose a new Matchup Challenge.

Contest Rules

The Matchup Challenge begins when a game has started that includes any player in a starting position on either manager’s fantasy team. Management fees applied to a contest are not refundable once the contest has started.

The scoring of a Matchup Challenge is determined by the league’s scoring settings. If the league is a public league or Pro League, scoring will be standard Head-to-Head scoring and standard settings, as defined for Fantasy Football, Fantasy Baseball, Fantasy Hockey and Fantasy Basketball

If the league is a private league, the scoring settings for that league will be applied.

Scoring will be applied to any player in a starting position on either fantasy team.  The team manager with the most points at the end of the weekly contest wins the Matchup Challenge.

Draft

In order to participate in Matchup Challenges, you must make at least one manual draft pick during the draft. If you do not make at least one manual draft pick, you will not be eligible to participate in Matchup Challenges. In addition, if your lineup consists of players from less than three teams, your entry will be canceled.

Canceling Contests

Team managers may opt to cancel a Matchup Challenge, regardless if the Matchup Challenge was accepted or not, until a game has started that includes any player in a starting position on either manager’s fantasy team.  Both teams will be issued full refunds at time of cancelation.  Matchup Challenges can no longer be canceled once a game has started that includes a player in a starting position on either manager’s fantasy team.

Postponements & Cancelations

If any scheduled game is postponed or canceled, points will be awarded to athletes who are participating in the postponed or canceled game in the week in which the game was played, not necessarily the week in which the original game was scheduled to be played. Football Matchup Challenges begin Thursday morning and end Wednesday night. If the postponed game was played before Wednesday night, points will be accrued in the same week. If the postponed game is played in a subsequent week, points will accrue in that subsequent week. Baseball, Basketball, and Hockey Matchup Challenges end on Sunday night. If the postponed game was played before Sunday night, points will be accrued in the same week.

Note: If a player misses their scheduled start due to illness or injury, or if a game is postponed for any reason, Matchup Challenges will not be canceled or refunded.

Suspensions

A game will be considered suspended if play has begun, but will resume at a later date.

If any game is suspended, any statistics accumulated within the week up to the point of suspension will be included in the weekly results.

Any football game that resumes play following a suspension will result in no additional points being awarded to athletes in the contest unless the game is postponed and played no later than Wednesday of that week. Any baseball, basketball, or hockey game that resumes play following a suspension will result in no additional points being awarded to athletes in the contest unless the game is postponed and played no later than Sunday of that week.

Position Eligibility

For all contests, Yahoo will determine position eligibility for any athlete at its sole discretion.

Traded Athletes

When an athlete is traded to another team after a contest has been created or a contest has been accepted, that player will accrue fantasy points for his new team.

Scoring Revisions & Corrections

Please note that live scoring and any accumulated statistics during a contest may ultimately differ from the final box score.

For Fantasy Football, final box scores sent by our data provider at the conclusion of the week’s games on Wednesday evening will be the basis for calculating all scoring and results of each contest.  For Fantasy Baseball, Fantasy Hockey, and Fantasy Basketball, final box scores sent by our data provider at the conclusion of the week’s games on Sunday evening will be the basis for calculating all scoring and results of each contest.

On occasion, box scores may be revised and resent by our data provider after the final Wednesday or Sunday evening box scores have already been released. Should this occur, contest scoring and results will not be revised.

A correction will be treated differently from a scoring revision. There are instances where a correction must be made, even after contests and payments have settled, due to various technical issues that may have affected contest scoring and results, or the settlement process itself.

Yahoo will determine, at its sole discretion, whether any corrections need to be made including whether settlements will be adjusted due to the corrections.

Contest Settlement & Payments

For Fantasy Football, the Matchup Challenge winner will be determined every Wednesday evening for the prior week.  For Fantasy Baseball, Fantasy Hockey, and Fantasy Basketball, the Matchup Challenge winner will be determined every Sunday evening for the prior week

Once winners have been determined, payments will be made to prize winners (subject to verification) shortly after, typically by the next day.

Prizes

All prizes are established and made known to contest entrants in advance of each contest.

In the event of a tie, Yahoo will split the Matchup Challenge prize equally between the team managers.

Additional Terms and Conditions

Each contest is governed by Yahoo Sports Paid Fantasy Terms of Service. For additional terms and rules, including rules regarding eligibility for each contest, please see the Paid Fantasy Terms of Service.
